Shorty’s Cheesesteak owner Evan Stein has been quite busy lately. As previously covered by What Now a little while ago, Evan has been hard at work converting his popular cheesesteak chain into a brand new concept.
Now, it appears that his new restaurant concept is moving into a new location in Chelsea. Olde City Cheesesteaks & Brews is the latest restaurant moving into the space at 201 8th Avenue. Owned by Evan Stein, John Rigos, Arthur Wrubel, Scott Krase, and David Blitzer, the new restaurant is a tribute to Philadelphia and the neighborhood that brought the city its iconic cheesesteaks.
Focusing on creating an inviting environment where guests can enjoy authentic Philly Cheesesteaks and a plethora of local beers, Olde City will place a higher emphasis on its alcohol selection than the steak-forward Shorty’s. Open from 11:00 AM – 2:00 AM Sunday through Wednesday, Olde City will remain open from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Thursday through Saturday, establishing Shorty’s as the next late-night hangout for hungry Chelsea residents and tourists alike.
Offering up their signature selection of beef and chicken cheesesteaks, Olde City also plans on serving shareable appetizers like mozzarella triangles, onion rings, and buffalo wings alongside some specialty house salads with fresh vegetables and classic Philly flavor. Moving into the space previously occupied by The Dish Cafe, Olde City will feature both a ground floor and second floor, capable of seating a total of 58 guests at one time, in addition to the stand-up bar on the ground floor. While the owners have not yet shared their intended schedule for opening, the space is already well equipped with many of the amenities the owners will need to launch Olde City.
