Pita Gourmet to Close Down Its Original Location
The Pita Gourmet food counter at the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls was opened in 2005 by Samira Mahfouz. For nearly two decades, the family‑owned eatery has brought authentic Mediterranean cuisine to the Buffalo area. Now that the restaurant chain has announced the closure of the food counter, it marks the end of a chapter in its history.
The restaurant chain is best known for its signature pitas, crafted using a family recipe passed down from Teta Lulu, the owners’ grandmother. The menu also includes platters, wraps, salads, and sides.
After the Fashion Outlets location grew popular, the restaurant expanded to other Western New York neighborhoods. Today, there are five other locations in Williamsville, East Amherst, Orchard Park, and Amherst. The new location opening this summer will be the restaurant’s second location in Amherst.
Customer Responses
Several users left comments on the Instagram post announcing Pita Gourmet’s closure of its original location and plans to open another. “Yeah, but you’re closing your mall location when I work there, so this is a loss,” one person said. “I can’t wait!!!” another user excitedly responded to the news of the new location.
Pita Gourmet has not provided an official reason for shutting down its original location. That said, it is good news for its fans that the restaurant will continue to serve them at the brand-new spot. The restaurant is expected to announce the opening date for the new location soon.
