It’s okay New York, we can talk freely here. I know you like to act tough, like you never get tired of the constant hustle and bustle of the city, but I think we both know that that’s nothing but a protective façade. I mean, who wants to live in a city that really never sleeps? It’s really okay to relax once in a while, and that’s what today’s newest restaurant is all about.
Relax at Blondie’s is the latest project from restaurateurs Jake Riley and Kyle O’Brien. Styled as a combination Tearoom, Pizza Restaurant, and Cocktail Bar, Relax at Blondie’s has everything a person might need to take the edge off after a hectic day on the subway. Moving into the space at 210 Avenue A, the restaurant will be open daily from 4PM to 1AM on weekdays and 4PM-4AM on weekends.
Serving a cross between Neapolitan and tavern-style pizza, Relax at Blondie’s will also offer small plates like charcuterie trays, prosciutto and figs, smoked jackfruit artichoke dip, and herb-roasted roots. For beverages, Relax at Blondie’s boasts a substantial natural wine and crat beer draft selection, alongside a collection of signature cocktails. The restaurant will also offer a rich selection of teas to aid in afternoon relaxation.
Co-owner Kyle O’Brien previously operated Garett West and Garett East prior to opening Relax at Blondies, and as co-owner of Williamsburg Pizza and Philomena’s Brooklyn, Kyle is well positioned to bring his pizza and entertainment expertise to a the new venture. With a combined 40+ years of experience in the industry, Kyle and the team have worked hard to “define a culture that is inclusive, approachable, and mostly affordable.”
Planning on serving the local artist community, Jake Riley stated that the restaurant plans “to offer a safe space for creatives to express themselves through jazz, spoken word, comedy and more.” Assembling a space that can accommodate these ambitions, Jake and Kyle are hard at work sound-proofing the bar to ensure that the fun will last long into the night without disturbing neighbors.
