Sarabeth’s opened their first new location in 13 years in the heart of Greenwich Village [100 West Houston Street, between Thompson Street and Laguardia Place]. Named after Sarabeth Levine, who opened her first location in a tiny bakery-kitchen in 1981, Sarabeth’s is best known for their timeless brunch classics, and this new location will feature the concept’s first rotisserie program as well as an enhanced bar program. The warm welcoming space is housed in a two-story, turn-of-the-century cast iron building with flexible seating and private dining options for larger groups.
Executive Chef, Freda Sugarman, who has been with the team for over a decade and opened the Park Avenue location in 2013, leads the food program at the new location. Stephen Olsen (previously of Docks Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill), serves as the Beverage Director. In addition to overseeing all NYC locations, Stephen has curated a robust offering of wine, beer and seasonal cocktails for Sarabeth’s, including the exclusive wine flight program at the new Greenwich Village location.
Executive Chef Freda Sugarman’s menu features new rotisserie dishes only available at the Greenwich Village location including a Rotisserie Chicken, served with house cut french fries and a black garlic au jus as well as the Rotisserie Turkey Club with bacon jam, burrata, and avocado served on a freshly baked croissant. This location also serves Sarabeth’s beloved dishes including starters such as the Five Lettuce Caesar, Velvety Tomato Soup and Jumbo Lump Crab Avocado. Shareables for the table range from decadent caviar adorned Deviled Eggs, to classic seafood starters like Crispy Calamari served with spicy marinara and garlic aioli and fresh East Coast Oysters. Entrees include the Sarabeth’s Chopped Salad with market vegetables, feta cheese, and salami dressed with a lemon vinaigrette; Chicken Pot Pie with wild mushrooms, rainbow carrots, fingerling potatoes and an herb béchamel; and Faroe Island Salmon with eggplant caponata, spinach and basil oil. Diners visiting Sarabeth’s for weekend brunches can indulge in sweet offerings like the iconic Lemon & Ricotta Pancakes and Cheese Blintz, both served with organic 100% maple syrup from the Catskills, to the Sarabeth’s Quiche with leeks, ham, potato and gruyere, using eggs from the Sullivan County Farm. The brunch menu also features Chef Sugarman’s Seafood Cobb Salad with decadent Maine lobster, shrimp, crab meat and Moody Blue Cheese from Wisconsin.
Sarabeth’s offers prix-fixe menus and happy hour specials every day of the week, featuring exclusive menu items and beverage deals. The three-course prix-fixes offer diners a choice of starter, including Baby Beets with balsamic gastrique, and Tuna Tacos served with ginger, sweet chili and avocado, garnished with micro mint. Main course options include the Greenwich Village exclusive Rotisserie Chicken and Rotisserie Turkey Club, and diners have an assortment of desserts to choose from, including a Chocolate Truffle Cake, Seasonal Crostata, and a selection of sorbets, gelatos and freshly baked cookies.
Happy Hour is available everyday 3pm-6pm at the bar and exclusively features the Happy Hour Tower of bar bites, including Guac & Chips, Deviled Eggs with caviar, and Short Rib Tater Tots. Other bites only offered at happy hour include Goat Cheese Croquettes with spicy marinara and Chicken Confit Tacos with molé, available alongside discounts on a selection of beers, wines, and classic cocktails.
The beverage program led by Executive General Manager Stephen Olsen, features seasonal craft cocktails, an extensive wine list, beer varieties, non-alcoholic mocktails and housemade lemonades. In addition to offerings by the glass and bottle, the Greenwich Village location is introducing a new wine flight service. The debut flight, the International Traveler, features glasses of Cava, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot served alongside a sheet of tasting notes and highlights the featured wine producers. Rounding out the beverage selection are riffs on classic cocktails including the Clarified Classic Margarita with Don Julio Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice and agave; and the Guava Mojito with Bacardi Silver, guava puree, lime juice and mint. Non-alcoholic offerings include mocktails like the Pomegranate Margarita Like featuring NA reposado tequila from Bar Zero as well as Sarabeth’s classic “Lemonade Stand” options including Sarabeth’s Pink Lemonade which boasts strawberry-raspberry preserve, a splash of cranberry and fresh lemonade.
Designed by Yvonne Choy at Cass Calder (whose previous work includes The Tin Building, Vesuvio Bakery, and The Park South Hotel), the Greenwich Village location embodies Sarabeth’s relaxed and sophisticated aesthetic, combined with the artistic spirit of the village itself. Housed in a turn-of-the-century cast iron building, guests are welcomed into the space with crisp white oak walls and ample light from the restaurant’s south-facing windows. The main floor’s dining room is flanked by elegant striped banquettes upholstered with rich leather, and features a fluted stone bar and sleek pendant lights, creating a soft glow for guests dining in the evenings. Two more intimate dining areas complete the main floor, providing flexible seating for larger groups. The restaurant’s lower level houses a dynamic private dining room that comfortably seats 40 guests, adorned with playful abstract photography reminiscent of flavors present across the Sarabeth’s menu.
Sarabeth’s Greenwich Village is open 7 days a week, from 8am to 10pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-10:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8am-9pm on Sundays.
