A new location for a local Japanese restaurant concept is in the works for the East Village.

Yong Sa Cho and Chao-Mei Chen have filed paperwork for a new Sushi W at 506 E 13th Street between Avenue A and Avenue B. It will go in on the first floor of the six-story building at the location.

The space was formerly Guerra Paint and Pigment, an art supply store.

There are plans for 12 seats at one stand-up sushi bar, paperwork indicates. It appears to have plans to be open for lunch and dinner.

Founded in 2021, Sushi W currently has two locations: 2673 Broadway and 1513 Lexington Avenue. It offers an Omakase sushi bar experience, serving one-hour Omakase-style courses, according to the Sushi W website.

The experience allows customers to watch the sushi being prepared. The menu is subject to change as the chef chooses.

“We are working to revolutionize the way people experience and enjoy authentic Omakase-style sushi in an affordable manner,” the Sushi W website states. “We take pride in our ability to optimize the pure taste of the fish sourced locally and globally and share it with New York City.”

As of now, it is unclear when the new location will open.
