An elevated new cocktail bar is currently getting ready to debut in one of Manhattan’s prettiest neighborhoods.
Rx Room is a brand new concept from master mixologist Jakob Trummer. Before coming to New York, Trummer operated out of Miami for years, and served as head mixologist at recognizable spots like Drogerie and Drawing Room and even worked in nightlife in Vienna. Now, Jakob is planning on debuting a brand new bar of his own design.
Rx Room is the first new concept from Jakob’s Rx Hospitality Group. Moving into the space at 2 Coenties Slip, right off the corner from Pearl Street, the new concept is described as a “cocktail bar serving small plates and sushi rolls.” An extension of Jakob’s philosophy on mixology, Rx Room will serve an eclectic mix of alchemical concoctions that Jakob has become so well known for. As a master mixologist, Jakob has spent over a decade of his life experimenting with the most creative and aesthetically pleasing ways to bring high-quality libations to the thirsty public.
Rx Room will be replacing Ground Central Coffee Company, a popular Seaport café that closed down earlier this year. Thankfully, the company still operates a plethora of locations across Manhattan, so saddened fans can still find their favorite coffee if they consult Ground Central’s website. Located in the heart of one of the city’s most historic districts, the space features 1,100 square feet and a max occupancy of 74 people.
At the moment, Jakob is proposing operating hours of 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM on Monday through Thursday, 12:00 PM – 1:00 AM Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM on Sunday. For the time being, Jakob has no plans to apply for an outdoor café this year and is in the process of soundproofing the space and acquiring the necessary liquor license. Once he has attained all of the necessary licensing, he will be able to properly launch his website and announce Rx Room’s Grand Opening.
