The West Village’s Tokyo Record Bar will be debuting its renovations this month.
Owner and serial entrepreneur Ariel Arce shut down her concept upstairs, Air’s Champagne Parlor, which has been open since 2017, to expand her record bar. The new space called Tokyo Listening Room is slated to offer 30 seats with a new food and beverage menu. Its new food menu will be curated by its new chef, Tadaki Iwai, who was formerly at the exclusive Japanese restaurant Bohemian on Great Jones Street. It will also offer wine and cocktails.
Tokyo Record Bar is billed as an izakaya and “underground listening room dedicated to quality and obsession through music, food and booze.” It is known to let guests pick their playlists for dinner and give customers pizza slices on the way out.
Ariel is a Hell’s Kitchen-native behind a handful of concepts including Roscioli which was formerly her now-defunct concept Niche Niche and Special Club.
