Previous Wealth Management Initiatives Under Andy Sieg

The wealth management vertical at Citi has been spearheaded by Andy Sieg ever since his appointment in 2023. Sieg oversaw several strategic initiatives during his stint, including planned layoffs and additions from Merrill plus other wirehouse companies.

The leader was also focused on enhancing cross-selling at the firm alongside referrals with the consumer bank. Sieg further hiked offers for new joiners and oversaw a 40% increase in Citigold’s headcount. Jane Fraser, Citi’s Chief Executive, lauded his efforts that allowed the global brand’s earnings and revenues to grow in the wealth division.

Citi’s Strategized Plans for Meraz

The memo signed by David Poole outlined new strategic plans for Meraz at Citi. According to it, Merrill Lynch’s Meraz will be managing more than 275 branches as the regional director. The New Leader Brings Along 33 Years of Industry Experience

Ronald Meraz’s career began with his role at Merrill Lynch, which started almost 33 years ago. He then took up a new position at UBS Management USA in 2008. Over there, Meraz handled the Los Angeles market as the managing director. However, he returned to Merrill Lynch in 2020, which manages assets worth more than $3.5 trillion.

Citi’s latest decision to bring Ronald Meraz on board as a regional director highlights its attempt at boosting productivity and enhancing client relationships. Meraz’s 33 years of experience, including a long stint at Merrill Lynch, is expected to support Citi’s long-term strategic goals.
