ProYouth Filed a WARN Notice Announcing Mass Layoffs

ProYouth provides extended learning opportunities to students in Central California. Its mission is to assist young people to realize their full potential in terms of academic, social, and emotional growth through providing safe, engaging environments outside the normal school day.

The organization filed a WARN notice on April 3, announcing mass layoffs at its facility at 2009 W. Feemster Avenue, Visalia, CA 93277. According to the filing, the layoffs will be permanent and will take effect on June 5, 2026.

ProYouth was founded more than two decades ago as a community initiative called “Visalians for a Gang Free Community.” The organization provides after-school and enrichment services to thousands of students in various school districts in Tulare and Monterey counties.

The organization operates programs on elementary, middle, and high school campuses. Students are provided with academic assistance, mentoring, project-based learning, physical activities, and healthy meals in a well-organized setup.

For a structured approach, ProYouth has organized programs like HEART, EDGE, XL, and INSIGHT. These programs are funded by a mix of state and federal grants, school district partners, and foundation and corporate donations.

ProYouth believes in the potential of leadership skills, healthy lifestyles, and meaningful learning experiences to develop students into confident and capable members of their communities. In 2025, the organization was recognized as “Nonprofit of the Year” by the Visalia Chamber of Commerce.

The filing indicates a significant round of layoffs but does not provide a reason. However, the advance notice allows affected workers, local governments, and workforce agencies time to prepare for transitions.
