Burger King has announced updates to its signature Whopper sandwich, marking the first major changes to the item in nearly a decade. Based on customer feedback, the company has updated the bun, toppings, and packaging to improve quality and consistency. The move represents the first significant update to the Whopper in nearly 10 years.
Burger King Introduces Major Whopper Update
Burger King is best known for its flame-grilled burgers, with the Whopper serving as its flagship item. According to a PR Newswire report, Burger King is updating its signature Whopper sandwich. The Whopper will continue to feature its classic flame-grilled beef patty, weighing more than a quarter pound before cooking.
However, the company has made improvements to the bun, toppings, and packaging to enhance overall quality and consistency. These are the first major changes to the product in nearly 10 years, and they were made based on direct customer feedback.

In the press release, Tom Curtis, President of Burger King U.S. & Canada, said the company has spent recent years “strengthening operations and modernizing restaurants” across the system.
“With that work well underway, we’re now in a position to thoughtfully elevate our core menu. The Whopper is an icon, so we didn’t set out to reinvent it. Instead, we elevated it based on direct guest feedback,” he added.
Improvements From Bun to Packaging
The updated Whopper sandwich now includes a more premium bun designed to improve taste and texture. It also comes with new packaging and will be served in a box rather than wrapped. The company says the new packaging is designed to better maintain presentation and freshness.
The toppings of the Whopper have also been refined. The sandwich now features freshly cut onions and tomatoes, crisp lettuce, tangy pickles, and better mayonnaise.
The updated Whopper is now available at participating locations across the country. By making these changes based on customer feedback, Burger King is highlighting that it puts its guests first. The company emphasized that the updates are intended to enhance quality while preserving the burger’s signature flavor.
