Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing back a unique promotion to mark Friday the 13th this year. The fast-casual chain announced it will offer a “Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag” buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deal on March 13. Chipotle has also partnered with hip-hop star Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd to create a limited-edition sheet of temporary tattoos inspired by the promotion.

One-Hour BOGO Inspired by Tattoo Culture

Inspired by the long-standing Friday the 13th “flash tattoo” tradition, Chipotle is bringing back the “Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag” deal.

The chain will offer a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) deal on March 13 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Chipotle is inviting fans to visit participating locations during the one-hour “flash” event with any kind of tattoo. Customers with permanent, temporary, or even drawn-on tattoos s will qualify for the BOGO offer.

According to a PR Newswire release, the company first experimented with the concept last year, and the campaign proved highly successful.

Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle’s interim chief marketing officer, said the promotion was inspired by internet jokes comparing heavily tattooed people to the artwork printed on Chipotle’s takeout bags.

Founded in 1993, Chipotle has grown into one of the largest fast-casual restaurant chains, with more than 4,000 locations globally. The company is known for serving customizable burritos, bowls, and tacos made with high-quality ingredients.

Chipotle and Swae Lee Collaboration in Miami

Chipotle is also partnering with hip-hop artist Swae Lee to create a limited-edition temporary tattoo flash sheet inspired by the artwork found on Chipotle’s takeout bags.

The exclusive tattoo designs will only be available on March 13 at one location:

  • Chipotle Mexican Grill at 3201 N. Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33127

Customers visiting the Miami restaurant during the promotion window will be able to receive the temporary tattoo sheet with a qualifying purchase while supplies last.

Perdue said, “Bringing this promotion back for Friday the 13th further establishes our connection with the tattoo community, and partnering with Swae Lee allows us to spotlight his authentic passion for the brand and give our fans something extra to commemorate the moment together.”

With the “Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag” campaign, Chipotle is blending internet culture with food marketing. The promotion encourages fans to show off their tattoos in exchange for a one-hour burrito deal.
