McDonald’s is experimenting with a new twist on its McCrispy Strips with two different versions of the fan favorite snack. With multiple flavor options, including spicy, savory, and sweet, fans are already anticipating a nationwide rollout.

New McCrispy Strip Flavors Spark Buzz

McDonald’s is testing new variations of its McCrispy Strips at select locations in Chicago by introducing glazed and seasoned versions. The limited-market test signals the chain’s interest in expanding its McCrispy lineup.

According to a post by Snackolator, the glazed McCrispy Strips are in different flavors like Sweet Chili and Teriyaki, along with Kickin’ BBQ as an option. However, the latter is not consistently available at all the test locations. Meanwhile, the seasoned strips lineup includes Spicy Chili Garlic, Sweet Asian, and Garlic Parm.

The new items use the same breading as the original McCrispy Strips, said Snackolator. The item is either coated in the sauce or in dry seasoning, yet still maintains its crunchy texture. Early reactions suggest the seasoned strips resemble a “shaker-style” flavor concept.

It allows intense flavors to be layered onto the crispy chicken. The test remains limited, with no word yet on a nationwide release.

The brand will be experimenting with a new chicken lineup with Wings this time around, along with McCrispy Strip. With multiple flavor options, the limited Chicago test could help determine whether these new variations make their way to menus nationwide in the future.
