Michigan-based Ada Valley Meat Company has announced a recall of ready-to-eat ground beef products. After receiving a consumer complaint, the company found the product may be contaminated with pieces of metal. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert urging consumers not to eat the affected product.

Ada Valley Meat Company Orders a Recall

Ada Valley Meat Company received a consumer complaint about pieces of metal in the fully cooked ground beef product. In response, the company recalled about 1,065 pounds of fully cooked ground beef.

The company notified FSIS, which issued an official recall announcement on July 29, 2025. To date, there are no reports of injury due to the consumption of fully cooked frozen ground beef.

Product Description of the Recalled Ready-to-Eat Ground Beef Products

The recalled product was distributed to establishments in California, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Illinois, and Michigan. Consumers and foodservice operators should use the following product details to identify whether they have the affected items:

  • Product Name: Ada Valley FULLY COOKED GROUND BEEF
  • Packaging Type and Size: 20-lb. cardboard box cases containing four 5-lb. plastic bags
  • Packaging Date: May 28, 2025, and May 30, 2025
  • Lot Code: 35156 and 35157
  • Establishment Number: EST. 10031

FSIS is advising both consumers and foodservice establishments not to serve or consume the recalled ground beef. It should either be discarded or returned to the store. FSIS also warned that similar products under different establishment numbers may be affected and urged consumers to check labels carefully. Consumers should thoroughly check their inventory and report any concerns, as more products may be added to the recall.
