Viskon-Aire Corporation, a manufacturer of disposable air filtration products, is closing its Salisbury, Maryland plant, impacting 51 employees. The layoffs are expected to take place between April 13, 2026, and September 30, 2026.
Viskon-Aire Corporation’s Salisbury Facility Set to Close, WARN Notice Filed
Viskon-Aire Corporation, part of Rensa Filtration, has notified the state of its plans to close its Salisbury facility. After almost five decades of operation, the facility located at 410 Winfield Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland, is closing.
The disposable air-filter manufacturer filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice on February 24. The notice stated that the layoffs are scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026, and will be completed by September 30, 2026.
Viskon-Aire Corporation has not shared any official reason behind the closure. However, since a WARN notice has been issued, employees will have time to prepare before the layoffs take effect.
Reason Behind the WARN Notice Filing
The WARN Act, enacted in 1988, is a federal law requiring advance notice of certain plant closures and mass layoffs. It requires employers with 100 or more employees to provide at least 60 days’ advance notice before a plant closing or mass layoff.
The purpose of the law is to give workers time to prepare for job loss, seek new employment, or pursue retraining opportunities. Employers must file the notice with the appropriate state agency and notify affected workers and local government officials.
In this case, the filing alerts state officials and employees to the planned shutdown. The layoffs will be carried out in phases over several months, beginning in mid-April
