Blue Shield of California, an 87-year-old healthcare company, is planning a round of layoffs, according to a WARN notice submitted on March 13, 2026. The company will cut a total of 69 jobs across multiple locations in California. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect on April 8.

The WARN filing confirms that employees across several offices will be permanently impacted. The layoffs will affect sites across both California.

Through a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing, Blue Shield of California has officially informed state officials and employees about the upcoming layoffs. The health insurance firm submitted a WARN notice on March 13.

The layoffs are expected to hit nine locations and will impact 69 employees. The company confirmed in the WARN notice that the layoffs will be permanent.

All affected employees are expected to be laid off on April 8. The company has not shared any specific reason for the layoffs.

Blue Shield of California is a health insurance service provider founded in 1939. The company provides premium healthcare coverage to thousands of individuals, families, and employers across the state.   • Alameda County- 7 employees affected at the Oakland office

  • El Dorado County- 12 employees across two buildings in El Dorado Hills

Where: 4203 Town Center Blvd., Building C, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762 (Buildings C and B)

  • Los Angeles County- 14 employees in the Long Beach office

Where: 3840 Kilroy Airport Way, Long Beach, CA 90806

  • Los Angeles County- 8 employees at Woodland Hills office

Where: 6300 Canoga Avenue, Woodland Hills, CA 91367

  • Sacramento County- 6 employees in Rancho Cordova

Where: 3300 Zinfandel Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670

  • San Diego County- 3 employees in San Diego

Where: 3131 Camino del Río, Suite #1300, San Diego, CA 92108

  • San Joaquin County- 17 employees in Lodi

  • Shasta County- 2 employees in Redding
