Moonlight Companies has issued a voluntary recall for its California-grown peaches. The recall was initiated after the product was suspected of being contaminated with Listeria. Consumers are urged to discard or return the affected peaches immediately due to potential health risks.
Moonlight Companies Issued an Urgent Recall of Peaches
Posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on October 30, the recall affects select yellow and white peaches grown in California and distributed nationwide. The recall was initiated after potential Listeria contamination was detected.
Listeria contamination can result in fever, muscle aches, headaches, and other symptoms in healthy individuals. However, it poses serious risks for pregnant women, young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
In severe cases, Listeria infection can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or life-threatening illness in newborns and older adults.
As of now, no illnesses related to this recall have been reported, according to the FDA. The recall was initiated after Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the company’s packing facility environment.
Description of Recalled Products
Moonlight Companies sold the recalled peaches to retail stores nationwide between September 16, 2025, and October 29, 2025. They were sold either as individual pieces of fruit bearing PLU stickers or as multi-packs. Products labeled “Washington” or “Organic” are not included in this recall.
