Prices could fall by up to 15% on popular snacks like Lay’s, Doritos, Cheetos, and Tostitos. Customers across the U.S. can expect the rollout to begin this week, just ahead of the Super Bowl.​

PepsiCo Cuts Prices on Popular Snacks​

According to an official press release, retailers will set the new reduced prices for PepsiCo snack brands. Shoppers can expect savings on Lay’s, Doritos, Cheetos, and Tostitos, among the many other favorites across shelves nationwide.​ Retailers will set their own prices, so discounts may vary by store.

While prices may vary by store, the flavors and quality of PepsiCo snacks remain the same. Updates to recipes and packaging will still be guided by consumer input.​

Rationale Behind the Decision

Rachel Ferdinando, the CEO of PepsiCo Foods U.S., reflected on the reasons that prompted the latest development ahead of the Super Bowl. She said that the team spent the past year hearing the consumers’ feedback and identified a financial strain.​

“Lowering the suggested retail price reflects our commitment to help reduce the pressure where we can. Because people shouldn’t have to choose between great taste and staying within their budget,” Ferdinando said.​

PepsiCo’s Efforts Beyond the Price Cut​

In addition to the new retail prices of beloved snack brands, PepsiCo is committed to refining its portfolio through various approaches. This includes curated recipe enhancements, such as the removal of artificial flavors and colors from Tostitos and Lay’s. Packaging updates as per evolving consumer preferences is also being implemented to improve the overall experience.
