The year 2025 brought a wave of bankruptcies in the brewery industry. Roughly seven well-known breweries, including Bosque Brewing Co. and Bootlegger’s Brewery, filed for bankruptcy, citing post-pandemic financial pressures and mounting debt.
Breweries That Filed for Bankruptcy in 2025
A 2025 midyear report by The Brewers Association brings out the struggles of craft breweries this year. The tough state of the market was indicated through closings outpacing openings and a decline in production. Those conditions pushed many breweries, including the seven below, to shut down or seek bankruptcy protection.
1. Brüeprint Brewing Company

The North Carolina-based craft brewery filed for Chapter 7 in April, signaling plans to liquidate and close. Brüeprint Brewing Company’s decision followed the brewery’s announcement last fall regarding the closure of one of its taprooms and relocation of its operations.
The 11-year-old brewery previously produced about 18 craft beers, including Brüenette, Brüe Scarlet Amber Ale, and Pale Brüe Eyes. However, with $1.78 million in liabilities against assets between $100,000 to $1 million, the brewery decided to liquidate the assets through the latest filing. Attorney Ciara L. Rogers of Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey PLLC represented Brüeprint Brewing Company in the process.
2. Stone Bridge Brewing Company

The popular Pennsylvania brewery made a Chapter 11 filing to restructure its operations amid mounting debts. During the time of filing, Stone Bridge Brewing Company owed around 49 creditors, with Bridgeway Capital being one of the major ones.
Financial pressures post the pandemic could be reflected in the brewery’s numbers listed in the bankruptcy court. Stone Bridge Brewing Company listed $100,001 to $500,000 in assets through a Subchapter V process. Liabilities ranged from $1 million to $10 million.
Established in 2018, the company has its main brewery in Johnstown. Stone Bridge hoped to come out stronger through the latest restructuring.
3. Three Weavers Brewing Company

GRDN Hospitality, LLC, the parent company of the well-known craft brewery from Inglewood, California, applied for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy this July due to financial headwinds. Through a Subchapter V filing, the parent entity planned to restructure its business while continuing everyday operations.
The petition details filed in the California Central Bankruptcy Court showed that assets and liabilities were in the range of $1,000,001 to $10 million each. The total number of unsecured creditors was between 50 and 99.
Three Weavers Brewing Company has built a strong portfolio of beers, including Seafarer Kolsch and Expatriate IPA over its 13-year history. The Inglewood community also visits the independent brewery for its non-alcoholic beverages.
4. The Grange Public House & Brewery LLC

- When: September 22, 2025

- Bankruptcy Court: U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Iowa
The Iowa-based establishment entered bankruptcy proceedings proceedings due to a significant gap between assets and liabilities. The Grange Public House & Brewery LLC hoped to readjust operations and pay back creditors as per the court proceedings.
The farm-to-table brewery’s assets were between $100,001 and $500,000. Liabilities, however, ranged from $1,000,001 and $10 million. Through a Chapter 11 Subchapter V filing, The Grange Public House & Brewery LLC mentioned that it owed around 49 creditors.
The Grange Public House & Brewery serves the Iowa crowd a range of in-house beers and food items. The bankruptcy case still continues for the establishment; it must submit a reorganization plan by December 22.
5. Bosque Brewing Co., LLC

- Bankruptcy Court: U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Mexico
The New Mexico craft brewery filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October. The intention of Bosque Brewing Co., LLC was to continue operating under court supervision while reorganizing its finances.
The brewery’s assets were in the range of $1,000,001 to $10 million during the filing in October. Total liabilities were ranging from $10,000,001 and $50 million. The number of creditors of Bosque Brewing Co., LLC were between 100 and 199.
Bosque Brewing Co., LLC has been serving IPAs, specialty brews, and ales for the past 13 years. However, after this filing, the New Mexico brewery shut down some taprooms, including the San Mateo Public House and Bosque West locations in Albuquerque. Prior to this, on December 10, two other Santa Fe locations were closed.
6. Bootlegger’s Brewery, LLC

- When: October 15, 2025

- Bankruptcy Court: U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California
This family-owned and operated bar from Fullerton filed for bankruptcy in October due to an imbalance in assets and liabilities. Through a Chapter 11 process, Bootlegger’s Brewery, LLC hoped to restructure its business operations while continuing to serve its brews and craft beers across Southern and Central California.
The Subchapter V Chapter 11 filing showed that the brewery then had assets between $100,001 and $500,000. Total liabilities were between $1,000,001 and $10 million. The number of unsecured creditors of Bootlegger’s Brewery, LLC was between 50 and 99.
As part of the proceedings, the Fullerton-based brewery was asked to submit its Small Business Subchapter V Plan by January 13, 2026. Opened in 2008, Bootlegger’s Brewery, LLC, distributes its beers to over 2,500 bars, convenience stores, restaurants, and grocery stores across Southern California.
7. Oregon Brewing Company
- When: November 24, 2025
- Filing Type: Chapter 7
- Bankruptcy Court: U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon
The Portland-based brewing company decided to proceed with a Chapter 7 bankruptcy process to repay creditors and sell off its assets. One of the company’s affiliates also has a pending bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon.
The brewery had total assets ranging between $1,000,001 and $10 million, the voluntary filing showed. On the other hand, the liabilities of Oregon Brewing Company were somewhat around $10,000,001 to $50 million. The Portland-based craft brewery needed to pay nearly 100 to 199 creditors.
As of now, Oregon Brewing Company is active in the bankruptcy court with attorney Daniel Kubitz of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt PC representing the company.
These filings reflect that mounting costs and debt loads led to a difficult year for the brewing industry. While some companies have opted to restructure their brewing operations, others have shut taprooms, which signals an uncertain future.
