Wabash, an American manufacturer and logistics giant, is set to lay off many workers following the permanent shutdown of its Goshen plant. The job cuts will impact around 144 employees across various sectors and will happen in phases. The first phase of layoffs begins on March 6, 2026.
Phased Layoffs Announced at Wabash National
Wabash National Services LP and Wabash National LP, together known as Wabash, have recently announced layoffs, affecting roughly 144 jobs.
According to the official WARN notice, Wabash has already informed the state and local governments about the layoffs and closure of the Goshen facility. The first phase of layoffs is expected to take place over a 14-day period beginning March 6, and more job cuts are expected.
Furthermore, the company said the job losses will be permanent. All the affected employees of the company will not have bumping rights and are not covered by a labor union.
Goshen Plant Closure to Affect Multiple Job Roles
Wabash has decided on a complete manufacturing operations shutdown of the Goshen facility at 2572 East Kercher Road.
The notice of closure was sent to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Elkhart County Commissioners, and Goshen Mayor Gina Leichty. For additional information, the company listed Carey Jacquinot, associate director of human resources, as the point of contact.
In the first phase, several departments will be affected. The biggest impact will be in assembly and welding, with 90 jobs cut. Other affected areas include painting, maintenance, quality control, machine operation, materials handling, and production supervision.
Wabash indicated it will continue to update officials as plans for later phases of layoffs are finalized.
The decision will significantly reduce manufacturing employment in Goshen as Wabash prepares to close the facility entirely.
