USDA investigators are working to determine the cause, and consumers are urged not to consume the products.

Highlights

  • Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, issued a nationwide recall of its OLANCHO meat products.
  • The discovery of a false USDA mark on their products led to this recall.
  • Consumers should not buy or eat these meat products, and restaurants are urged not to serve them.

Meat Products Under the OLANCHO Brand Name Recalled

Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, is recalling up to 32,000 pounds of meat products nationwide. This was after an inspection revealed that the products bore a false USDA inspection mark. The products in question were sold under the OLANCHO brand name in stores nationwide.

OLANCHO brand products bearing the establishment number “Est. 1785” should be considered unsafe and avoided. No illnesses have been reported, but consumers should still discard the products.

Need for the Recall of the Meat Products

A problem in the product was detected during a routine inspection by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). While an investigation regarding the false USDA mark is underway, it is advised to discard the product. The products may contain harmful bacteria, undeclared allergens, or other contaminants.

The FSIS is concerned that the product has already reached consumers. The products may already be in homes or restaurant freezers. They are now urging everyone to discard or return the products as soon as possible.
