A ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture manufacturer plans to reduce its workforce at a factory in Whitsett, located in Guilford County. The permanent layoffs are expected to begin at the North Carolina facility on May 2, 2026.

Prepac Manufacturing To Initiate Mass Layoffs in May 2026

Prepac Manufacturing US LLC submitted an official WARN notice to the North Carolina Department of Commerce on March 3, 2026. The filing details confirm that the company is set to lay off around 200 employees at its Whitsett-based facility permanently.

The layoffs are scheduled to begin on May 2, 2026. The layoffs will affect workers at the company’s factory at 3031 Hendren Road in Whitsett, in Guilford County.

As of now, Prepac Manufacturing US LLC has not shared any official reason for the planned layoffs. Details about which positions will be affected have not been disclosed.

North Carolina-based companies planning large-scale layoffs must file a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice. The same applies to companies that close/plan to close a facility. The WARN notice, shared with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, prompts a Rapid Response team into action, which offers transition support to affected employees.
