IKEA, the home furnishing giant, plans to expand its footprint and open new stores. The company aims to open four new stores in Chicago, Tulsa, Fort Collins, and Los Angeles. These additions bring the total number of new U.S. stores set to open in 2026 to 10.

IKEA Announces 2026 U.S. Store Expansion Plans

IKEA is one of the world’s leading home furnishing and decor brands. On February 17, the company released its FY25 Annual Summary, highlighting major expansion and strategic moves.

IKEA announced plans to open four new U.S. stores in 2026. The new locations will open in Chicago, Tulsa, Fort Collins, and Los Angeles. This brings the total to 10 new stores in 2026, including six that were announced last year.

The four newly announced locations include:

  • IKEA Culver City, which will be Los Angeles’ first city-center store
  • IKEA Tulsa, marking the retailer’s first store in Oklahoma
  • IKEA Gurnee Mills in the Chicago area
  • IKEA Fort Collins is expanding the brand’s presence in Colorado alongside its Centennial and Colorado Springs stores.

Six other stores previously announced are planned for Huntsville, Alabama; University Park in Dallas, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Houston, Webster, Texas; Rockwall in Dallas, Texas; and in Chantilly/Dulles in the Washington, D.C., region.

Insights from IKEA’s FY25 Report

The expansion follows a year of steady growth. In FY25, IKEA opened 14 new retail locations across the United States, including small-format stores in Arcadia, California, and San Marcos, Texas.

The company also launched ‘Nine Plan & Order Points with integrated pickup services’ in markets such as Charlotte, North Carolina, Roseville, and others.

In the FY25 Summary release, the company reported $5.3 billion in total U.S. sales for 2025, which included $1.9 billion from e-commerce.

The interim CEO of IKEA U.S., Rob Olson, shared that FY25 was a year of growth. Despite challenges, the company has expanded store formats, improved digital services, and strengthened its community and environmental efforts.

The company also hit another milestone as it welcomed nearly 61 million customers in its stores. Meanwhile, online visits reached more than 457 million. The IKEA Family rewards program grew to 25 million members, a 17% increase from the previous year.

Rob Olson also mentioned, “Looking ahead to FY26, we will build on this momentum, focusing on continued investment in the U.S. to make IKEA more affordable, accessible, and sustainable.”

IKEA’s focus for 2026 will remain on expanding access through new store formats and strengthening its brand name in the country.

With 10 openings planned next year, IKEA is continuing to invest in both major metropolitan areas and growing regional markets across the country.
