Target plans to expand its footprint with seven new stores set to open this fall across the U.S., part of its broader long‑term growth strategy. These new locations span several states, including California, New Jersey, and others across the Sun Belt and Midwest as Target accelerates its store‑as‑hub growth plan. The retailer also plans to open more than 30 additional stores by the end of 2026.

Target Plans Seven New Store Openings as Part of Long-Term Expansion

Target, one of the nation’s biggest retailers, is widening its presence with seven new stores slated to open this fall across multiple states. Five of the seven new locations top Target’s average store size, reflecting its focus on larger-format stores that also support online order fulfillment.

The new stores will open in California, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Texas. Currently, the Target stores fulfill about 95% of digital orders, including same-day services such as Drive Up, Order Pickup, and same-day delivery through Target Circle 360, which reaches roughly 80% of the U.S. population.

Adrienne Costanzo, Target’s chief stores officer, said the new openings reflect the company’s commitment to serving guests and local communities with flexible, convenient shopping experiences.

As per the official announcement, she stated, “These new stores give our teams the tools and environments to bring our merchandising strengths to life, create easier and more inspiring shopping experiences, and use technology to move smarter and faster every day. It’s how we keep growing thoughtfully, stay connected to our communities, and make Target an even better place to shop.”
