Winter Park has enjoyed the boutique hotel experience of The Alfond Inn at 300 E. New England Avenue since it opened in 2013. Now visitors and residents can anticipate additional amenities coming in Summer 2023.

The hotel will break ground on an expansion project this summer that will include a four-story atrium, 71 new luxury guest rooms and suites, and a Wellness Spa with treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, fitness center and locker rooms. Additional meeting and event spaces will continue to make The Alfond Inn the social hub of the Winter Park community.

A Communal Café in the light-filled lobby addition will serve coffee, crepes, and pastries, as well as grab-and-go options for travelers during the day, and then transition to beer and wine service in the evening, with the possibility for high end desserts, according to Assistant General Manager Christopher Giannone.

Giannone says that the full concept is still in the development phase, but that there is much anticipation over the project, which has been planned since 2019.

“I’m looking forward to the expansion,” said Giannone, who has worked at The Alfond Inn since it opened.

The inn is owned by Rollins College, a private liberal arts college in Winter Park, and helps to fund the The Alfond Scholars Program, giving away millions of dollars in full scholarships to deserving Rollins students.
