After nearly 40 years, Orlando’s Tanqueray’s Bar & Grille is preparing to close permanently. The bar announced the closure through social media and extended an invitation to guests to join them on December 31 for its final night. The bar is closing due to issues with renewing its lease with the landlord.

Tanqueray’s Bar Announces Closure

Tanqueray’s Bar & Grille, a popular Orange Avenue spot, announced the closure on Facebook. The 37-year-old bar is shutting down on New Year’s Eve. Dan Charles, owner of the bar, wrote, “Come join us for our final New Year’s event on December 31, 2025. It is with mixed emotions that we announce the closing of Tanqueray’s.”

The dive bar is well known for live music, a vibrant basement setting, and happy hour specials. It regularly hosts bands from different genres and was known for its lively, energetic atmosphere. The bar menu features bubbly cocktails and beers, all priced reasonably.

Charles further added, “I will be 70 this year on 12/31/25, and after 49 years in the hospitality industry, I feel the stars are aligning for retirement and the closure of Tanqueray’s.”

He concluded the post with a note of appreciation for the community, employees, and regular customers for their support over the years.

“Your continued support has made Tanq’s an exceptional live music destination for many years. I will miss all of you and wish everyone a future of happiness, success, and good times.”

Bar Shuts Down Due to Lease Issues

The bar’s decision to close down was driven by lease issues with the landlord and ongoing financial pressure.

Charles explained, “The city has not been kind to the local bars in the downtown entertainment district since 2023, which have been in existence for a very long time, Tanqueray’s specifically for 37 years this coming March. In addition, the current building owner will not be renewing our lease.”

The sudden news of closure deeply impacted several fans and community members. One of the fans wrote, “ It hurts to see the only remaining staple in the downtown Orlando bar scene shut its doors for the last time. Truly thankful for all the fun memories in that smoke-filled room — listening to the best local talent rip some great tunes.”

The closure of Tanqueray’s Bar & Grille brings a long chapter in Orlando’s nightlife to a close, leaving behind decades of memories for the local community.
