A new, ambitious food hall is coming to Orlando, spearheaded by local hotelier Micah Bass, according to a recent report in The Orlando Sentinel. Construction is set to begin in the coming months as an extension of Bass’s Travelodge hotel at 7200 International Drive.

“We want to bring an international experience to International Drive,” Bass told GrowthSpotter in 2021. “We’d like to have a mix of food options; I’m looking for places that stand out. We want international food that’s exciting for everybody, locals and tourists.”

Mr. Bass comes into this project after visiting a reported 40 food halls around the world over the past thirty years and is hoping to channel his inspirations into the new project, according to the Sentinel’s reporting.

It is notable that Bass plans to run the hall until 4 a.m. and host up to 15 restaurant tenants, an exhibition kitchen, a full bar, and rooftop patios, making up a total of three stories.

The project will be designed by architecture firm Baker Barrios, who plan for the food hall to be made of gray, red, and white steel panels evoking shipping containers, according to the Sentinel. The food hall will cover over 24,000 square feet in total, with the outdoor space featuring artificial grass, steel roof, and large fans to “cool down guests in the Florida heat.”

“Everyone likes rooftop space,” Bass said. “You’ll be able to see shuttles take off, you can see Disney fireworks, Universal Fireworks, and fireworks from Epic Universe, which will be a mile from my front door.”

What Now Orlando briefly contacted Micah Bass for additional comment on this truly unique development in the Orlando food and beverage scene, but did not receive comment by time of publication.
