According to recent reporting in OBJ, a new bayou-inspired concept is coming to town.

Curio Orlando, “a New Orleans-inspired restaurant with voodoo-style ambiance”, will soon debut at the former Soundbar in downtown Orlando. The establishment will reportedly serve up breakfast, lunch and dinner at 37 W. Pine St.

“It’s the latest venture from James Morrone and Addie Hassel, the couple behind several downtown Orlando venues including Cocktails & Screams, 1-Up Orlando, The Society and High-T,” the report states.

“What you can’t get downtown right now is a hot breakfast of bacon and eggs or chicken and waffles,” Morrone said during a recent interview. “What we’re creating is a New Orleans-style spot with beignets — a greasy spoon-type place.”

Morrone told the OBJ that Curio is an “active project”, with architectural drawings submitted to the city just days ago.

“Our initial idea for the location was more of a bar and lounge similar to our existing venues,” he said.

While no opening date has been set as of yet, Curio is aiming to open within the next four to six months, provided the city approves the submitted plans without significant delays.

“If all goes well, we could open before that, but I don’t want to promise a timeline in case this goes slowly,” said Morrone. “We’re kind of gutting the place. We’ve got plumbing, electrical, HVAC. They didn’t have air conditioning before.”

“It’s great to finally see it coming to fruition. It has been in the cooker for a long time.”
