Neko San, a new restaurant that offers a quality alternative to expensive omakase experiences, is opening at 8546 Palm Parkway in Lake Buena Vista.
The restaurant is the latest venture for chef Lewis Lin, who has made a name for himself by opening a number of establishments in the Orlando area. A native of Taiwan, Lin first moved to Orlando to study business, but quickly saw a need for quality Japanese food in the area. He opened Susuru — considered to be Orlando’s first Izakaya — using dried fish and charcoal-smoked proteins. His nostalgic restaurant, Juju, earned a nod from the Michelin Guide for its izakaya and omakase offerings. Lin also owns Wagyu and hot pot restaurant, Hinabe.Â
His latest, Neko San, promises to be one of the most intriguing concepts.
Neko San, which translates to Mr. Cat, is named as a tribute to the feral cats that live behind Lin’s other restaurant, Susuru, which is located adjacent to Neko San. Lin and his team have grown attached to the felines, with the chef even adopting two, according to Orlando Weekly. Expect cats to adorn the walls of the restaurant, as well.
The restaurant will feature a six-seat omakase counter offering one-hour experiences, as well as a six-seat sake bar. It’s expected to open by the end of 2026.
