Jam Grill Restaurant & Lounge, a new Jamaican restaurant, will soon be coming to 390 W Burleigh Boulevard in Tavares, according to recent public records.

“Running a restaurant has always been a passion for me. All my life I’ve been cooking,” owner Maleck Abrahams enthuses to What Now Orlando.

“We’ll serve oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken, curry chicken, stewed chicken, jerk pork, stewed pork, fish dishes and soup.”

While Abrahams and his team are still working out the establishment’s seating capacity, he expects the 400 square foot space to hold between 80-100 people. Eventually, the premises will include a bar.

“We haven’t yet gotten a bar license, but we will get that. Until then, we will be serving beer and wine when we open.”

When asked why he decided to open Jam Grill in Tavares, Mr. Abrahams points simply to a hole in the market.

“I recently moved to Tavares and saw for myself that there was no Jamaican restaurant here. I saw this as an opportunity.”

While Abrahams does not yet have a set opening date, he is awaiting permitting and inspections to soon conclude.
