The young but popular Kissimmee Latin American chicken brick & mortar restaurant Pollito Chicken, will be expanding to a food truck at 2924 Camomile Dr in Orlando, near Hand Roll Sushi. The budding chicken brand is co-owned by the culinary couple Manny Jimenez and Angélica Cordones, who have fused the cuisines of Manny’s native Dominican Republic and Angélica’s native Venezuela to create an especially bombastic approach to chicken.
Mr. Jimenez tells What Now Orlando that what sets Pollito Chicken apart from the crowded chicken market are two simple items: wasakaka, a Dominican garlic-citrus marinade, and chicken grilled over coal. When combined with some of Angélica’s Venezuelan contributions, such as arepas (cornmeal-cake) and tequeños (fried cheese rolls), the dining experience is memorable and exceptional, Mr. Jimenez says.
The brand has not yet been open two years but has already shown significant success and loyalty in Kissimmee. After clearing the hurdles of paperwork, staffing, and technical challenges, the couple is set to open their food truck in mid-October.
Until then, customers can try the much-hyped chicken at the original brick & mortar location at 1322 John Young Pkwy in Kissimmee.
