La Familia, a locally-owned Salvadoran restaurant, will soon be opening in Orlando, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida. The restaurant will be located at 900 Lancaster Rd, near eateries such as Khasiyat and Guanajuato.

“Obviously, we’ll be serving Salvadoran food,” Owner Adan Menjiva Gerber tells What Now Orlando. “We’ll be selling grilled meat, chicken, and pupusas, for example.”

When asked about why he has decided to open his first restaurant at this time and at this location Mr. Gerber says, “I simply found an opportunity to open now and the location of the restaurant is very close to where I live.”

Geber adds that it will be a small, simple restaurant, occupying around 1060 square feet of space. It will be indoor seating only, with no space for patio seating.

Finally, Mr. Gerber was asked what special experience he expects that La Familia will offer Orlando, a city full of Latin American dining options.

“There is a lot of Latin American food in this city, but a very small selection of Salvadoran cuisine. We hope to bring more of our specific food to the public.”

As he awaits permitting and inspection processes to conclude, Gerber and his team have no set opening date as of yet.
