Sizzling Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, a locally-owned restaurant, will soon be opening in Winter Park, according to recent public records.

The restaurant will be located at 3096 Aloma Avenue, taking up the freestanding restaurant space of the former Somo Japanese Steak House. Local readers may note this as an exciting development given that the building has been empty and tenantless for around five years. The nearest eateries are Friendly Confines and Habaneros Mexican Grill.

What Now Orlando recently contacted owner Wah Chung who, despite juggling several meetings, was able to inform readers with a few basic details: the restaurant will cover around 5000 square feet of space and will be indoor seating only, “so far”.

In way of offerings, readers can expect a classic fare such as short rib, bulgogi beef, and all the other staples common in the interactive, communal-style dining which makes up Korean BBQ and hot pot eateries. Mr. Chung was not able to provide further details.

When Sizzling finally opens it doors, it will be the only fully-fledged Korean BBQ establishment in Aloma/Winter Park.
