Mellow Mushroom, the pizza chain with the psychedelic theme, is eyeing a Central Florida expansion.
The company is looking at expanding its Orlando-area footprint, eyeing potential spots at Disney Springs and Lake Nona, according to Growth Spotter. The chain already has about a half dozen restaurants in the Greater Orlando area, but is seeking to open as many as 15 new locations, reports the Orlando Business Journal.
Founded in Atlanta in 1974 by three college buddies ( Rocky Reeves, Mike Nicholson, and Marc “Banks” Weinstein), the shop quickly became popular for its psychedelic vibes and great pizza.
The restaurant chain has grown, with more than 160 locations throughout the U.S., especially in Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina. The restaurant continues to grow, adding locations to its roster. With its friendly, colorful vibe, Mellow Mushroom’s expansion will be a welcome addition to Orlando’s dining scene.
Through the years, Mellow Mushroom has maintained its groovy, hippie vibe with tie-dye decor and colorful, locally-themed murals. The restaurant is known for it’s stone-baked pizzas with names like Kosmic Karma and Maui Wowie. The restaurant also offers vegan options and a good selection of local craft beers is always on hand.
