Chiquita Mexican Food and Ice Cream, a locally owned and operated restaurant, will soon be opening in South Daytona, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida. The restaurant will be located at 2841 South Nova Road, within Suite 12, near eateries such as Señor Taco Too and Doghouse Bar and Grill.

Owner Guadalupe Nieto tells What Now Orlando “We’re going to sell tacos, tostadas, flautas, pork chop, hot dogs, along with tostilocos, which are basically chips with tamarind.”

When asked about the ice cream menu in particular, Ms. Nieto says that they will be focusing on paletas, a type of fruit ice-cream resembling a popsicle.

“Our paletas will come in strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, mango, and lime flavors, among others.” says Nieto.

The restaurant will be mostly indoor seating, though Ms. Nieto eventually plans to expand her outdoor seating, perfect for having ice cream on a hot Florida day.

“Eventually, we’ll add outdoor seating, though at the time we are only allowed two tables.”

Nieto was unable to provide an exact opening date for Chiquita.
