Kaya, a “Filipino casual fine dining restaurant”, according to its website, will soon open in Orlando at 618 N Thornton Avenue, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida. The restaurant will be near Downtown, in the Lake Eola Heights neighborhood, occupying a free standing space.
Explaining its concept and values, Kaya states on their website that “at its heart, kaya means capable, and ‘kaya natin’ means ‘we can.’ We are passionate about every element that goes into building our vision for Kaya, which includes not only cooking beautiful and soulful food, but also nourishing a sense of community, taking care of our team and cultivating transformative experiences in an industry that’s overdue for change”
Explaining the actual culinary component, Kaya states that “for now, dining at Kaya requires a reservation, and we serve a seafood and vegetable forward tasting menu. Over time, we plan to expand our service to include an a la carte/bar menu, outdoor seating, as well as private dining and special events.”
What Now Orlando reached out to the owners of Kaya, Jamilyn Salonga Bailey and Lordfer Lalicon, to inquire about potential opening dates and tasting menu details, but they were not immediately available to comment.
Given the passionate mission statement, focus on honoring family and tradition, and attention to detail expressed on the restaurant’s website, Kaya is sure to be a gem in Central Florida for years to come.
