According to a recent report in the OBJ, The Comission Beer Chamber will be expanding with Rocky’s Bodega, a made-to-order eatery next door.

“Benny Colon, the man who brought The Commission Beer Chamber to 2230 Curry Ford Road in 2020, has another business in the works to open next door — and this one is a complement to the bar,” the report states.

“Colon has signed a lease and work is underway to transform the 1,004-square-foot space at 2218 Curry Ford Road into a bodega-style eatery.”

“I grew up in the Bronx. I grew up going to bodegas,” said Colon. “Now, if you’ve been to one, you know a real bodega looks like a small grocery store. We’re not going to have all of that. It will be more like a deli with a to-go counter and we’ll have some of the classic sandwiches you would typically find at a New York bodega.”

“We’re going to have a chopped cheese sandwich and a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich — plus a Puerto Rican tripleta sandwich,” said Colon. “There will be a small, refrigerated case with a few grab-and-go items, but mostly we’ll serve made-to-order, take-out food.”

No opening date has been set, but Colon is eyeing to debut in 2024
