Olde Hearth Bread Company, Central Florida’s first artisan bread bakery, is opening a new retail shop.

The bakery will open at 1231 N. Orange Avenue in the former House of Sploot location some time in mid-May, according to the Bungalower.  Currently, Olde Hearth sells breads from its bakery in Casselberry and also appears at the Winter Park Farmers Market and the Maitland Farmers Market.

The bakery was founded in 1998 by Shannon and Janice Talty, a husband-and-wife team of bakers with a goal of offering high-quality artisan breads and pastries. Shannon is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), while Janice is a graduate of the culinary program at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. They combined their talents to bake items using only the best ingredients. Only unbleached and unbromated flours and preservative-free ingredients are used for its breads, using methods that are as hands-on and old-school as possible. The bakery has also introduced the Slow Food movement to Central Florida, which strives to uplift restaurants that show a commitment to the environment and their community.

Olde Hearth offers artisan loaves, rolls, cookies, tarts, pastries, and more. In addition to its retail shop, the bakery supplies its bread and pastries to many local hotels and restaurants.
