According to leasing data confirmed with owner James Gongola, Pirate Ice Italian Ice and Soft Serve is in the process of opening in Clermont.

During a phone interview with What Now on Friday, Gongola shared that the new dessert shop location will be at 2430 US-27, in the Golden Eagle Shopping Plaza. Along with a Publix supermarket, Pirate Ice will neighbor other eateries like: Mito Sushi and Grill, Philly Steak and Wings of Clermont and Bamboo Garden.

According to Gongola, he is working with architects and contractors for building permits and to solidify their design. As far as an opening date, Gongola said “fingers crossed for a summer opening.”

The shop, as the name suggests, will offer frozen treats and desserts, which will hopefully open just when Florida needs them most –  amidst the punishing southern summer.

This is Gongola’s first foray into the food industry. He has operated family retail businesses in California and Tennessee, but this is his first Florida business.
