The popular smoothie food truck Fruit & Shakes will soon be opening its first brick and mortar location at 11701 International Drive, within suite 500, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida. The store will be within the Orchid Bay shopping center, near eateries such as The Chocolate Museum and Café and Flavors of India. The restaurant will be 1600 square feet and have twenty seats available.

When asked about the mission statement or driving force behind Fruit & Shakes, Owner Fernando Reina tells What Now Orlando, “Basically, our company was rooted in the desire to make drinks based in real fruit, not syrups. We wanted to create drinks that combined fruits and vegetables, and eventually incorporated açai from the Amazon in Brazil and Peru.”

Reina explains that apart from having a wide variety of fruits and vegetables available to make juices with, customers can top them off with toppings such as coconut or nutella.

Their most famous combination? Carrot, beet, and orange juice.

“In Colombia, we call that ‘el levantamuertos’, or the ‘one that raises the dead’”, Reina jokes.

When asked to describe the most exciting aspect of moving into a brick-and-mortar location, Reina says “Basically, the satisfaction of having reached out to the community, both Latin American and American, and succeeded in providing a quality product that is worth expansion.”

Until Fruit & Shakes opens by early November, curious foodies may go to the original food truck at 5805 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy in Kissimmee.
