Potbelly Sandwich Works, the company that specializes in freshly made toasted sandwiches, is opening two new Orlando locations.

According to the Orlando Business Journal, franchise partner, Sugarland Investment Group, is committed to growing the brand’s presence in the Orlando area. In 2022, Sugarland and Potbelly entered into an agreement for the investment company to open six new shop locations to Orlando over the next seven years. At the time, Potbelly announced its Franchise Growth Acceleration, with plans to reach 2,000 units by 2032. Currently, there are about 450 Potbelly restaurants throughout the U.S.

As part of this agreement, Sugarland has just applied for permits with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation for two locations: 1003 S. Orlando Avenue in Winter Park and 5455 Gateway Village Circle in Orlando. The locations are expected to open at the end of 2025 or early 2026

Chicago-based Potbelly is known for its comforting toasted sandwiches and soups. Its most famous sandwich is the “wreck”, a combination of salami, roast beef, turkey, ham, and Swiss, toasted on hoagie bread. Completing the menu are potato chips and cookies.

The fast casual restaurant chain also serves salads and milkshakes — all in a nostalgic setting that’s reminiscent of being in a country store — complete with potbelly stove — a nod to its original restaurant that opened in 1977 in Lincoln, Illinois.
