According to recent public records, a new independent establishment–Jacobites–is coming to 502 W New York Ave in Deland.

“The name Jacobites holds historical significance in Scotland,” says owner David Stout to What Now. “Jacobites referring to the 1745 rebellion of the Scottish against the English.”

“We’re Scottish,” he clarifies. “We came here three years ago and have been wanting to open a Scottish bakery. It’ll be totally different than Italian, Chinese, and American restaurants.”

Elaborating on the menu, Stout explains that readers may expect Scottish pies, soups, and sausage, and other dishes which represent the breadth of Scottish cuisine.

So when can local readers expect this unique establishment to open?

“If we could be open before Christmas time, that would be great,” says Stout. “But that’s out of my hands now.”
