Pirate Ice, a locally owned gelato and ice cream shop, will soon be debuting its first brick and mortar location in Clermont, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida. The restaurant will be located at 2430 US-27, within Suite 320, near eateries such as Mito Sushi & Grill and Bamboo Garden.

What Now Orlando briefly spoke to owner James Gongola to inquire about the location.

“We make homemade Italian ice and gelati which is a combination of soft-serve ice cream and Italian ice. We also serve floats,” Gongola explains.

When asked about the flavors Mr. Gongola is most excited to serve the public, he is quick to name his favorites.

“Salted caramel, watermelon, and mango flavors are the most popular. For soft-serve ice cream, pineapple is probably the most popular.”

Responding to questions the eatery’s namesake, Gongola gives a simple and succinct response.

“It’s an immersive pirate-themed interior design.”

When it comes to opening dates, Mr. Gongola still has no clear answers.

“We are doing construction today, but we are making progress on our opening soon.”
