Proprietor Jim Shreck spoke with What Now Orlando on Wednesday to confirm details about Phyre GenX. With the permitting completed, Shreck is working on completing the interior. The goal is to open at the end of February.
Shreck has about three years of experience in the restaurant business and owns Phyre Pin-Up Speakeasy in St. Cloud. According to its Facebook page, the speakeasy is a nano-craft brewery, live music venue and scratch kitchen.
The forthcoming Phyre GenX will be similar, except it is shaking the speakeasy and pinup theme to adopt 80s digs. It is unknown if live music will be offered. However, guests are encouraged to bring their old 80s portraits of themselves to hang on a wall of “fashion shame,” according to the Facebook page.
The new establishment will be replacing the shuddered Man Cave Tavern at 1108 Tenth St.
In Downtown St. Cloud, Phyre Gen X will be around the corner from City Hall and other local watering holes, like Garage Bar and The Dog House.
A recent plan review filed with the state on January 13, 2022, is still “in process.”
