According to recent reporting in The Orlando Business Journal, Miami-based franchise Talkin’ Tacos will be opening a 1,700-square-foot restaurant with seating for 48 guests at Eco Plaza, 3123 S. Orange Ave. The location will be run by franchisee Hassan Rahim.

“One reason I chose this plaza is because of the great neighbors,” said Rahim to The Business Journal. “I talked to the other business owners here. I learned the sales at Jersey Mike’s, for example, are solid. We also have a major intersection nearby — Orange Avenue and Michigan Street is right there.”

The specialty of Talkin’ Tacos is birria, a slow-cooked beef exploding in popularity across the US. Talkin’ Tacos uses birria the in tacos, sandwiches, pizza and ramen.

“We cook it for eight hours, and the consommé it’s dipped in takes four hours to make,” said Rahim. “One of the foundations of our menu is the tortillas, and we get those and the churro dough from a terrific vendor in Miami. Our house-made horchata is also excellent. It’s the first thing I asked the chef to make when he came up from Miami.”

No opening date was listed.
