Walter’s Tavern is set to open in Orlando’s Packing District.
The 3,800-square-foot bar and restaurant will open inside the historic Great Southern Box Company Food Hall, located at 2105 N. Orange Blossom Trail in the Packing District. The tavern, which is set to open by end of the fourth quarter 2025, will feature craft cocktails, live entertainment, and an elevated sports viewing experience, according to Dr. Philips Charities.
The venue, operated by Pine Street Hospitality, is named in honor of Walter Simmons Phillips, the youngest son of Dr. P. Phillips, one of the founders of Central Florida’s citrus industry who later donated his wealth to charity.
Walter’s Tavern will be operated by Pine Street Hospitality. Co-founded by Scott Kotroba, the restaurant group is behind some of Orlando’s best restaurants including Bullitt Bar, McQueens Social Lounge, Sessions Lounge, Basement, Attic, Papi Smash’d Burgers, and its newest venture — Walter’s Tavern.
A menu is not yet available, but according to a Walter’s Tavern Facebook post, guests can expect, “elevated takes on the classics: approachable, balanced cocktails made with fresh ingredients and plenty of in-house prep work”, says general manager Zack Zeisloft.
In addition to cocktails, food, and entertainment, expect a future surprise from Walter’s Tavern.
According to design firm, Instruct Design, an adjacent speakeasy called Howard’s Hideaway will be added to the industrial-modern restaurant and sports bar in the future., with construction to start after the new year.
