According to building permits issued by the City of Orlando, Wally’s Mills Avenue Liquor is building a 2,023 square-foot bar addition, as well as a patio to adjoin with the existing bar. The business is located at 1001 North Mills Avenue.

A self-described neighborhood dive bar, Roy Updike opened Wally’s in 1954, making it one of the first liquor stores in Orlando. Selling wine, beer, and spirits, Wally’s has been named Best Independent Liquor Store and Best Dive Bar over the years according to the business website.

Following 64 years of business, Wally’s closed its doors in 2018 for remodeling with plans to reopen the original bar structure with a modern touch. Wally’s plays host to events, and has the capability to put together custom menus and bring in food trucks as well.
