Ay Chabela is coming to downtown Phoenix this summer near Roosevelt Row. The new restaurant was recently issued its state liquor license to operate at 719 E. Roosevelt St. in the former Chez Gregory space off 7th Street.

Ay Chabela comes in part from Andrew Renteria, who currently operates Chubasco Tacos with this brother out of nearby Killer Whale Sex Club. Renteria tells What Now Phoenix that Ay Chabela will be something like a mariscos restaurant, serving Coastal-inspired Mexican cuisine alongside a full bar.

The details for this new concept are still being ironed out, so that’s all that we know about Ay Chabela for the time being. Renteria says that he hopes to have more information in time for their projected opening this summer.

Until then, he hints that they have other projects to unveil. Follow @chubascotacos on Instagram for updates on what that might be.
