Bagelfeld’s is opening a brick-and-mortar at 2940 E. Thomas Road in Phoenix. The bagel shop is a cult-favorite among farmer’s markets throughout the Valley for its fresh small-batch bagels, which they also sell wholesale to places like Stoop Kid and Nelson’s Meat + Fish.

Owner Charles Blonkenfeld created Bagelfeld’s in August 2020. He tells What Now Phoenix that he hopes to open by the end of the month pending some last-minute inspections, adding “I’m really excited to start serving more bagels to the Valley and seeing everyone in person.”

A Brooklyn-born chef, Blonkenfeld has recreated the New York-style bagels that he and many other Phoenix residents from the East Coast grew up with. He makes classic flavors such as Everything and Poppy Seed, plus more refined tastes like Asiago or Fennel and Raisin. He also has a variety of homemade spreads such as Lemon and Herb, Spicy Pepper Garlic, and Honey Brown Butter.

Bagelfeld’s also offers catering services, creating entire breakfast spreads with bagels, fresh fruit, egg and chicken salads, quiches, and more. When the shop finally opens, he hopes to expand his menu with other baked goods, but notes that he’ll leave the bagel sandwiches up to his cafe partners that already execute them so well.  For more information, visit www.bagelfeld.com and follow them on Instagram.
