Bojangles, the fried chicken and biscuit chain that’s known for its down-home Southern flavor, is opening a new Phoenix-area location.

ABC15 Arizona reports that the chicken chain will soon break ground at 99th Avenue and Indian School Road in Avondale, with a target opening date of 2026.

Operators LVP Restaurant Group, LLC, an entity of LV Petroleum, in partnership with Kingsbarn Realty Capital are already planning a location in Gilbert, also set to open in 2026.

The North Carolina-based fast food restaurant specializes in fried chicken that’s scratch made, along with other Southern favorites like sweet tea and biscuits.

The restaurant was founded in 1977 by Jack Fulk and former KFC president Richard Thomas, who wanted to create a brand new fast food concept. The chicken was unique in that had Cajun spices and was hand breaded and fried to order.

The brand grew in popularity for its commitment to scratch cooking and quality, along with its authentic Southern items like its famous sweet tea.

Although the company’s food is deeply rooted in Southern culture, it’s expanding throughout the U.S., with locations in Ohio, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, and California. The company is also moving into alternative venues like airports, college campuses, and sports venues in order to continue its growth trajectory. The company is also embracing technology, and is incorporating AI in its drive-thrus to enhance the customer experience.
