There are plenty of ice cream shops decorated with juke boxes and retro diner furnishings to evoke the feel of nostalgia for the 1950s.  There’s only one, however, that turns back the clock all the way to the 1700s.

Brooker’s Founding Flavors is an ice cream parlor with an American history theme, complete with employees dressed in attire from Revolutionary times — and one is being planned for Chandler.

Brooker’s Founding Flavors filed a permit with the city for a shop to open at 2560 W. Chandler Boulevard. Franchise owner Shane Krauser posted the following note on his Facebook page, saying, “Many of you know that we’ve been working over the last year to bring Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream to Chandler, Arizona….This entire week, we’ve been in Utah making final preparations as we work with the corporate team.” No opening date has been set. The Utah-based company currently has shops in Utah and Texas. When it opens, the Chandler location will be the first in Arizona.

Founded by Brian Brooker, the shop combines his love for American history with his love for ice cream. The shop offers super-premium ice creams in a 1700s tavern setting.  Flavors are named after historical figures, with a touch of whimsy. Examples include Alexander Hamilton’s Not Throwing Away my Scoop, Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Cookie Dough, and Patrick Henry’s Give me Chocolate or Give me Death.
